Terms & Conditions

The 2022 Walkathon Round Vitilevu (491km), Theme: Walk Against NCDs (the Walkathon) is organised by Sport Climbing Fiji.

The Walk-A-Kilometer Challenge is an important component of the Walkathon.

The Walk-A-Kilometer Challenge aims to:

  • Promote walking as an economic method of exercise and good practice for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
  • Promote walking as a way of adventure, stress buster and introspection.
  • Motivate people to walk atleast 60 minutes per day and as far as possible in natural settings.
  • Bring together different communities of people to walk together to raise awareness on rising crisis of non-communicable diseases.
  • Infuse adventure and joy in the lives of people through team efforts.

By registering to participate in the Walk-A-Kilometer Challenge (the Event), you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.

Covid Special Terms & Conditions

  1. I will ensure that I am following the relevant laws, regulations and guidelines relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  2. I will not participate in Event if, in the past 14 days:
    1. I have undergone a COVID-19 test;
    2. I have come into contact with a person who has been diagnosed with COVID-19;
    3. I have come into contact with someone who is a close contact of a person who has been diagnosed with COVID-19;
    4. I have experienced a temperature, flu-like symptoms, repertory symptoms, a sore/dry throat or a persistent cough or any other symptom that is associated with COVID-19.
  3. I accept that I am not entitled to a refund of any payments made to Sport Climbing Fiji in circumstances where the Event is cancelled as a direct result of a requirement of the Fijian Government arising out of or associated with the management of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  4. Notwithstanding clause 3 herein, Sport Climbing Fiji will endeavour to offer a refund of part of any payments made to Sport Climbing Fiji however such an offer will only be made where Sport Climbing Fiji has covered the costs of organising the cancelled event

General Terms & Conditions

  1. I declare, as a condition of entry into the Event that I am not aware of any illness, injury, physical disability or impairment which may cause me or others illness, injury or death during or as a consequence of event participation.
  2. The decision to participate is entirely my own and I accept all risks associated with the participation in the Event, including but not limited to loss of life or permanent injury.
  3. I, for myself and my heirs and executors, hereby waive, release and forever discharge the event organisers, sponsors, promoters, service providers and each of their agents, representatives, successors and assigns, and all other persons associated with the event, for all my liabilities, claims, actions or damages that I may have against them arising out of or in any way connected with my participation in the Event.
  4. I acknowledge that refunds of payments made to Sport Climbing Fiji will not be issued for change of mind or inability to attend. Refunds prior to the Event may be considered in special circumstances, which includes where a participant suffers from a medical or personal event that prevents that person from being able to participate in the Event. To apply for a refund, contact the Sport Climbing Fiji with appropriate supporting documentation.
  5. I acknowledge that the Sport Climbing Fiji  have the right to cancel, postpone, change the structure and/or change the route of the Event at any time. The Event may be cancelled, postponed, have a change of structure and/or change the route for any reasons (at the sole discretion of the Sport Climbing Fiji). In the event of cancellation, postponement, have a change of structure or route there will be no refund of any Entry Fee, payment(s) made for Walkathon Official T-shirt, Pledge Card Sponsorship or donation(s) unless otherwise determined by the Sport Climbing Fiji in their sole discretion and the cancelled event may not be re-scheduled. Any decision to cancel or change the Event will be posted to the Sport Climbing Fiji’s website and/or official social media channels.
  6. I consent to the publication and/or use in any form of media whatsoever of my:
    1. name;
    2. image;
    3. voice.

(the Information)

  1. I consent to Sport Climbing Fiji publishing the Information in Fiji in any medium including:
    1. Television;
    2. radio broadcast;
    3. newspapers (including online), magazines or books;
    4. other traditional and social media;
    5. Sport Climbing Fiji publications and training materials;
    6. Internet, wire service and/or email news service;
    7. Sport Climbing Fiji websites; and
    8. Sport Climbing Fiji promotional materials.
  2. I accept that the Information may be published beyond the life of the current Event and that as a result the Information may be used to promote future events and provide historical references at the discretion of Sport Climbing Fiji.
  3. I certify that I am 18 years or older, or that I am the parent/legal guardian of the participant who is under the age of 18 years, and I have read this document and fully understand it. As a parent or legal guardian, I agree to these Terms and Conditions for and on behalf of the participant.
  4. I consent to Sport Climbing Fiji entering my personal details contained on this Registration Form into a database which will be used for the administration of the Event, including to SMS relevant information to me. I also consent to my personal details being used by Sport Climbing Fiji events for future marketing and promotional purposes.
  5. I accept and agree to abide by directions and instructions given by Sport Climbing Fiji, and to abide by the current Fijian Government regulations including but not limited to any instruction:
    1. to enforce social distancing measures,
    2. have my temperature checked,
    3. to respond questions relating to COVID-19 upon my arrival and in the lead up to the event to ensure the safety of others,
    4. to sign in prior or on the event day,
    5. to sign out on event day upon leaving the event site,
    6. alter or vary my start time.
  1. I acknowledge that Sport Climbing Fiji may remove me from the Event area and/or exclude me from participation in the Event:
    1. if my behavior is inappropriate, offensive, or abusive to others;
    2. if I do not follow any directions regarding COVID-19 guidelines or other health related matters;
    3. if my behavior threatens to or does cause damage to any property;
    4. on medical or health and safety grounds (including to prevent possible harm, illness or injury to myself or any other person);
    5. to prevent or arrest any form of unauthorized marketing, including ambush marketing;
    6. if consumption of drugs and/or alcohol is suspected as the use of drugs and alcohol is prohibited at the Event;
    7. I breach any of these Terms and Conditions.
  2. I agree not to bring pets to the Event.
  3. I declare that all the information supplied by me for registration is true and correct.

Walk-A-Kilometer Challenge

Participants will follow a pre-defined Walkathon Route. By registering to attend, you agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions in addition to the General Terms and Conditions set out above.

  1. I understand that I must follow the approved Walkathon Route, observe traffic rules and obey all directions and instructions given by Sport Climbing Fiji and law enforcement agencies. I acknowledge that I must wear the Walkathon Official T-Shirt.
  2. I understand that no vehicle may be used in the Event including but not limited to: roller skates, rollerblades, handcycles, geared or motorised vehicles, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, or accessories.
  3. Any merchandise to be collected must be collected before the Event unless prior arrangement is made with Sport Climbing Fiji.

Sharing Your Story

By submitting your story to Sport Climbing Fiji, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.

  1. In accordance with these Terms and Conditions, I consent to the publication of the Information.
  2. I accept that Sport Climbing Fiji may make grammatical changes to any written information I provide to Sport Climbing Fiji. Any changes that they wish to make to the content or messaging of your story will be confirmed with you via email prior to publication.
  3. Sport Climbing Fiji will endeavour to use your story but does not guarantee that it will be shared on the website or other media.

Amendments

   34. Sport Climbing Fiji reserves the rights to amend these terms and conditions at any time.
